Después de despegar en un vuelo desde Nueva York a Los Angeles en la víspera de Año Nuevo, los pasajeros del vuelo 37A pronto se encuentran en estado de shock y de alarma cuando el avión experimenta una turbulencia severa. El ataque incesante hace que aumente el clima de pánico y terror entre los pasajeros hasta que el avión se estrella en última instancia, en una remota reserva de pruebas hechas por el gobierno, AREA 407. A través de imágenes capturadas por dos hermanas adolescentes, podemos ser testigos del accidente y de los eventos que ocurren a continuación, además, no debe ser visto por los débiles de corazón. A medida que continúan a la película, se hace evidente que los supervivientes del vuelo 37A no pueden sobrevivir a la noche.
